Calculation and editorial methodology

ROI Calculator Hub publishes free decision tools for marketing profitability and business investment analysis. The calculators are estimates, not accounting statements or financial advice. Their purpose is to make assumptions visible and help users compare scenarios consistently.

How we build a calculator

Define the decision. Each page starts with one operating question, such as the ROAS required to break even or the time needed to recover a software implementation.
Set the economic boundary. Benefits and costs must refer to the same activity and time period. Incremental value is preferred over total revenue touched by a channel or tool.
Model material costs. Depending on the decision, this can include margin, product cost, fulfillment, payment fees, returns, labor, adoption, implementation, and recurring operations.
Test worked examples. Formula output is checked against hand-calculated examples, zero-denominator cases, and default inputs before a page is published.
Document limitations. Every calculator states which effects are excluded and where attribution, timing, averages, or uncertain adoption can change the result.

Review and update policy

Calculator pages are reviewed by the ROI Calculator Hub editorial team. A review checks formula behavior, input definitions, examples, internal links, sources, and whether the result language overstates certainty. The reviewed date changes only when the model or guidance receives a substantive review.

Attribution and uncertainty

Reported revenue is not automatically incremental revenue. Advertising platforms, analytics tools, CRM systems, and finance reports can assign different credit to the same outcome. Where attribution matters, calculators ask users to enter the value appropriate to their documented model and explain the limitation.

Users should run a downside case before approving spend. A precise-looking percentage does not make uncertain inputs precise.
